Summer Holiday Craft - Day 9 (21/08/14)

Today Lara made a bag charm. No knowing exactly what supplies she would need, I bought her a kit from Spoilt Rotten Beads. It cost £3.50.

All the supplies needed to make the charm came in the kit. The only extras needed were tools - pliers and cutters.

The kit was probably intended to be made and given to a teacher and included an apple charm but Lara decided to replace this with a dog charm that we already had.

After a little guidance Lara set to making the bag charm. Auntie Juliet would have been proud!

The finished bag charm was lovely.

Summer Holiday Crafts - Day 8 (20/08/14)

Today Lara and I made pendants using used drink can ring pulls. We used this You Tube video but there are many others on the Internet.

We started off with some ring pulls which I had been collecting over the summer and some suede twine (ribbon could also be used).

To create the pendant we overlapped 6 ring pulls and threaded the twine in and out of the holes to join them together following the instructions in the video.

The finished pendant was quite effective.

In addition to wearing it around your neck Lara thought it would also look good as a headband ....

... or a hairband.

Summer Holiday Crafts - Day 7 (19/08/14)

Today Lara used a 'Decorate Your Own Picture Stand' kit from The Works.

The kit included a wooden picture stand, 4 marker pens and some gem stickers. I did wonder how good the markers would be and whether they would easily smudge but they had good, bright colours and dried very quickly.

Summer Holiday Crafts - Day 6 (18/08/14)

Today I downloaded some free dog paper toy templates from www.paper-toy.fr for Lara to make.

The templates were simply printed onto A4 white card and were then cut out, folded and stuck together. There were 5 different templates.

They were very cute when assembled.

Scrapology - August Card Challenge

Sue Wilson has kindly sponsored the August card challenge on Scapology and is challenging you to create a card using dies as the focal point or in unusual ways.

I chose to create an Anniversary card and used die cuts cut using Sue's 'Italian'  and 'Finihsing Touches' Collection.

I used some Dovecraft glitter card for the base and embelished the die cut with stickles. The sentiment was a peel off sticker and sticky pearls were placed in the corners. The teeny tiny heart was cut from the end of a pin!

Full details of the challenge and the prize can be found on the Scrapology blog.

Summer Holiday Crafts - Day 5 (15/08/14)

Today I found Lara a 'Form-a-Lines' stitching pattern of a dog. It cost just £1 from www.form-a-lines.net. The e-pattern was supplied as a PDF file and was easily printed on the computer. Easy to follow step by step instructions were also included.

First Lara transferred the pattern from paper onto card using a pricking tool.

Using embroidery floss the image was then stitched. This took lots of concentration and patience to make sure the needle went in and out of the correct holes in the correct order.

Beads were used for eyes.

When the picture was finished we found a little wooden frame to put it in.

Summer Holiday Crafts - Day 4 (14/08/14)

Today Lara got out the Hama Beads and using some patterns found online she made some Minions from the Despicable Me 2 film.
